Pro-Con List #1

Hello my lovelies,

Today had it's ups and downs. I felt a bit emotional, a bit down and a like a failure today. So, I'm gonna list a few things that went wrong and end on a happy, positive note with all the wonderful thing about today.

Cons:
1. I had insane cravings all day long. I could not stop thinking about food. It was the first time since I started 7 days ago that I didn't feel satisfied. I wanted sweets and cheese {I have a serious cheese thing}. I know it wasn't true hunger. It was boredom and emotional eating. It was still frustrating though. No one wants to feel hungry all the time. What do you do when you have insane cravings?

2. I didn't study nearly as much I would have liked to for my major exam in August. I just didn't feel motivated to sit down and crack those books open. I only managed to concentrate for about 2.5 hours; well below my daily goal of 4 hours. How do you get motivated to do those less desirable tasks?

Pros:
1. I did two POP Pilates videos (a total body workout and a 100 work out), did 15 additional push-ups, and took a 25 minute brisk walk. I am sore man. Check out the videos I did and you'll see why {here and here}.

2. I went to my big sister's ultrasound and heard the baby's heartbeat and saw the baby wave and wiggle and jump around! Utterly amazing. Until you or someone really close to you goes through it, I don't think you can really grasp what's going on. She is growing a tiny, beautiful, energetic human and my faith was strengthened 10-fold by the sight of it. Babies are miracles!

3. I knew one thing I could do for my cravings was to make a really kick butt dinner for myself. I made a 5 oz lean cut steak over a bed of baby spinach with my favorite Trader Joe's low-fat Parmesan Ranch (it's a must try - find it in the refrigerated section) , a purple sweet potato with garlic and EVOO. It was great and I finally have settled in for the night feeling satisfied.

4. Despite my cravings and my indulgence in a sweet, I was able to stay in my calorie budget for the day! I tried to kick the boredom eating by focusing on my studies and the POP Pilates Calendar. When that didn't work, I munched on some grapes and a low-fat Babybele cheese.

More Pros than Cons! I honestly didn't expect that when I sat down to write this post. I truly felt as if today had been awful. Turns out, it really wasn't when I took a few minutes to stop and reflect on the good stuff.

Hopefully, I can carry that positive attitude into tomorrow and cope with those cravings in a positive, healthy way!

Weekly Weigh in: July 14th, 2014

Hello my lovelies!

It's my first real weigh in! It's the end of my first week of the Blogilates Beginner's Calendar! I've also logged EVERYTHING I've eaten using the LoseIt! app!

So, let's get the numbers!

Minutes worked out: 225
    - a combination of PoPilates, jogging, swimming, and weightlifting

Calories under budget: 102

Pounds lost: 2.4
   - I chose a 2 lb/week weight loss plan on LoseIt!. It's super encouraging to be right on track! I      definitely wouldn't want to lose more than that - fast weight loss isn't healthy and doesn't stick.

Weight: 197.0 lb

I loved this week because I felt so good and I am so proud of myself. I'm visiting my sister and was able to stay on track despite the fact that my sister is a major foodie and we eat good whenever we're together.

Controlling my portions of the yummy stuff and limiting my calories by eating lots of fruit, veggies, and lean protein earlier in the day allowed me to eat like a king without going over my calorie budget.

The LoseIt! app also helps you to calculate the calories burned by your exercise which you can then use. I think as I move along I will aim to only use those calories when I'm eating out with friends or having a special meal.

Blogilates is amazing. Cassey Ho, the creator and trainer behind the fitness videos, is so sweet. It's like working out with your best friend. She's also fostered a community of women who are unbelievably kind, loving, and supportive of each other. From women who are overweight to the so called "skinny fat" girls (I hate that term!), everyone is welcomed and lifted up by these Popsters!

I'm so excited for the week to come but I'm also so glad I had a rest day today! I am sore but I like it and that's kind of amazing. It's a happy kind of sore. It's a sore that means my body is changing in a healthy, sustainable way.

Stay tuned for next week's weigh in!

Week 1 Weigh-In

Hello my lovelies!

I'm here to *gasp* put pictures of my body on the internet. Before I do, I want you to know that my body has done some amazing things. It isn't perfect. It never will be. This journey is not about obtaining an ideal size or a thigh gap or a bikini bridge.

It's about me feeling good about myself.

I don't feel good about myself or my body right now but that doesn't mean I don't love my body for that it is. So, if you are here to ridicule, mock, or put down my body, you might as well click that back button now. This is a place for peace, love, and acceptance.

Check the photos and week 1 stats after the jump!
